The main steam motive power on the SLR is provided by a Baldwin
2-8-0  Consolidation, built by Geoff Jago, based on a loco which ran on
the Denver and Rio Grande metals in 1883. This will be augmented by a
Roanoke petrol hydraulic driven loco which is  doing stirling work
hauling up to 2 Tons of ballast etc to feed the track bed.
The Roanoke is our main hauler during morning running.
Another locomotive operating will be a Tinkerbell belonging to Geoff's
brother-in-law. This is a design based on a loco built to run at Moors
Valley Railway and has recently been fitted with new wheels.
In September 2006, a further loco, Ludwig, was added to the stable,
owned by John Wheeley. After about 20 miles of running, the wear on
the cast iron wheels was quite severe (cast iron wheels and steel rails
don't go together) and Ludwig has had it's wheels retyred with steel
tyres by Geoff Jago.
We have aquired another petrol hydraulic 0-6-0 powered by a 5hp
Kubota engine but was found to too high geared. A revised 4:1
reduction gearing has been fitted, and a new cab/body awaits finishing
and fitting
Grafter is on shop at the moment, due to severe flange wear on the
front pair. These have been machined to a new profile and fitted  The
second have been dropped for machining, these mods together wih
new drive chains will give Grafter a new lease of life.
A further steam loco, Hilda Barker, has joined the railway and awaits
completion of driver training before entering public service.
Stansted Park Light Railway is a 7.25" gauge  railway built at the
rear of a large Garden Centre situated in the grounds of Stansted
House, about 16 miles North of Portsmouth, in Hampshire, UK.
Contruction work was begun during the winter 2001/2002 and was
first opened for the Easter weekend 2005. The main construction
work was carried out by 3 people who set out to prove that there is
life after retirement. Over the years, several others have joined the
team.
All the construction work is being undertaken by a small team of
volunteers who live locally, but as the railway develops, SLR will be
looking for more to act as Station staff, Guards, and after training,
Drivers. Due to Insurance requirements, there will minimum age
requirements for these positions.( See also Volunteers page).

A couple of weeks ago I treated myself to a new camera and tried
out the video facility. The result (not very professional) can be seen
